Full time Senior SQL Database Administrator with Sybase ASE 15.0 or Oracle 10G or 11G
The candidate will eventually work in Stamford, CT; for the first few months will work 2 days
in Jersey City or Manhattan, and 3 days in Stamford, CT. The position will support and work with Fixed Income Traders.
Breakdown of experience can be 65% SQL and 35% Sybase or Oracle. If you have Oracle, you will be trained in Sybase.
SQL Server required skills
• Several years experience with SQL Server. Must have served as primary SQL DBA recently.
• The candidate must have strong performance and tuning skills at both server and query level.
• Scripting abilities is required.
• Good knowledge of SQL Server Replication
• Knowledge of SQL Server Clustering
• The ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
• The candidate must have some experience with SSIS and ability to learn more about SSIS quickly.
• Administrative experience with large databases (1/2 Tb or more)
Sybase ASE 15 or Oracle 10g or 11g required skills; if you have Oracle skills, you will be trained in Sybase
• Several years experience with Sybase ASE with ASE 15 and replication server. It’s a plus if you served as primary Sybase DBA recently or Oracle 10g or 11g.
• Strong administrative skills with Sybase replication server. Experience with routes, definitions and subscriptions.
• The candidate must have strong performance and tuning skills at both server and query level.
• Strong scripting abilities in Perl and/or shell is required.
• The candidate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve Sybase or Oracle problems.
• Administrative experience with large databases (1/2 Tb or more)
Interpersonal required skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to think in and out of the box.
• Must be willing to take responsibility and ownerships instead of waiting to be assigned work.
• Work in fast paced environment; tight deadlines; strong adaptability – may be called to start another project.
Other skills
• Must have financial services experience.
• The candidate will support fixed income trading.
• The candidate will work in a trading environment in Stamford two or more days per week in the beginning, and can work there 5 days a week.
Nice to have
• Knowledge of Oracle or Sybase. Having served as backup is acceptable.
• Experience with Sun Sparc and Linux Intel
